Magic Hat Brewery’s Spring Seasonal – Vinyl Lager

Was at the beer store this weekend and little bit surprised to see that Magic Hat Brewery had already introduced their 2010 Spring Seasonal, Vinyl Lager, considering I had to trapse through snow to get to the store.

Now that I have it back at home and have drank a couple, I have to say that I really like this easy drinking amber lager.  It’s quite delicious.

Go to your local liquor store, pick up a 6 pack, and let me know what you think.

Here’s a little promotional video that Magic Hat did for the Vinyl release:

Magic Hat Winter Seasonal Pack in Stores…

I’m not as hot on Magic Hat Brewing Company as I used to be (seems like #9 has become almost too mainstream) but they’re still a good brewery.  That being said, word is that you can now get the Magic Hat Winter Variety Pack in stores.  Go find it and let me know what you think.

Find a Good Summer Seasonal Beer…

IMG_0044

Today, I went over to my favorite beer store that’s close by to my apartment to pick up something good for the weekend.  I saw a lot of the usual suspects but then something caught my eye.  It was Brooklyn Brewery’s Summer Ale.

Now, I’ve had quite a few of the other Brooklyn beers.  They’re fantastic but I hadn’t seen this one before.

A lot of breweries will make a beer for a season of the year, where the flavors match that season.  So… this is Brooklyn’s Breweries summer seasonal.   I imagine that you won’t see it in stores for much longer.

Other examples of summer seasonals are things like Bell’s Oberon, which is a favorite of mine.  Being brewed in Michigan, this is the beer that EVERYONE drinks in the summer and it’s SOO good.  It’s so good that an editor for Food & Wine magazine wrote a blog post asking why they can’t find it in New York City.

I’ve found two new summer seasonals which I quite enjoy.   One is Dogfish Head’s Aprihop.  I’m not HUGE on fruity beers but this one has some pretty good balance.  The other is Magic Hat’s Wacko, which is just weird yet delicious.

What’s your favorite summer seasonal beer?  If not, go to your local grocery store and see if the beer that you love the most has a summer seasonal that they put out.
