After the recommendation from a few of my friends, I sought out the Dogfish Head 120 minute IPA. They said it was a wild ride. I didn’t completely know what they meant but I for sure wanted to give it a try.
Last night my buddy Shaun and I gave it a whirl.
Whoa. This beer lived up to all my expectations. It is a great beer but it’s INTENSE. It’s made with a lot more hops… I mean A LOT more hops (120 IBU) but the hoppiness doesn’t rock your mouth off. It’s actually pretty sweet. I was reminded of the flavor of orange cream soda or jelly.
The crazy part is the alcohol. It comes in at 18-20% alcohol by volume. When you take a sip of this beer, you feel like you’re about to breathe fire. Your mouth gets crazy hot. It’s not overwhelming but its there and something that you’re definitely aware of.
You sip this beer. You don’t gulp it. If you gulp this beer, it will mess you up.
If you’re big on beer, seek this out. It’s pretty expensive. It’s $9.99 for a 12 oz bottle. You should be able to find it in a Whole Foods (where I got mine) or a specialty beer shop.
Have you had the beer? Review it over at Living Social: Beer.
Here’s a cool video on the Dogfish Head 120 minute IPA that I found on their Web site…

Oh man this was really good. The hardest part is trying to sip a beer. That's just not what you usually do when you open a beer. I suggest not drinking a whole beer in one sitting. Very sweet and full of goodness.
